AES Solid-Fueled Power Plant - EPC

Fluor provided design, engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and commissioning services for this $800 million, 454-MW power facility in Puerto Rico.
The circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) combustion unit was installed under a lump sum contract and included installation of an electrostatic precipitator and a circulating dry scrubber to achieve extremely low emission levels. To conserve scarce freshwater resources, we employed zero liquid discharge technology to recycle wastewater.
The plant represents the first coal-fired power generating facility constructed on the island. It provides 9% of the entire island's electrical generating capacity, 15% at full production.
