Executive Summary

Fluor was selected by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the procurement and construction of refurbishment work at OPG's Darlington Nuclear Generating Station in Ontario, Canada.

Client's Challenge

Since the early 1990s, Darlington Nuclear Generating Station has produced approximately 20% of Ontario's electricity, representing more than two million homes each day. To continue reliable service, the facility was undergoing a mid-life refurbishment that would support 30 additional years of low-cost, clean power for Ontario.

Fluor's Solution

Fluor's scope included the replacement of emergency power generators for Units 1 and 2. The new emergency power generators would replace the existing units that were approaching the end of their design life.

Conclusion

Fluor supported refurbishment work at OPG's Darlington Nuclear Generating Station. The refurbishment would extend operations to continue providing reliable power for Ontario residents.
